San Antonio Streetcar Referendum Poll
San Antonio, March 28th, 2014:
Mr. Charles Gonzales, on the Trey Ware Show this morning, stated there would be a VIA press announcement around 10 AM Friday morning. VIA subsequently issued the following media release
Public vote for streetcar not allowed by state law
In that release VIA confirmed that they will continue to ignore the voices of the people and only listen to the politicians who want to spend out tax dollars on a streetcar while the infrastructure of the city and county are short changed.
There is nothing stopping the VIA Trustees, who are charged with representing the interests of the voters, from putting the streetcar on hold until they see if Judge Wolff survives the November election.
The fact that VIA can not hold a referendum does not leave the public without an opportunity to express their dissatisfaction with the streetcar at the polls.
The Republican Party of Bexar County will have a referendum question on their ballot for the Primary Run-off Election on May 27th. They have also invited the Bexar County Democrat Party to include a similar question on their ballot.
However, you do not have to wait!
